On this website you can find contact information for the general practitioners who are temporarily registering international students and patients.

Why?

If you are staying in the Netherlands for a longer period of time or if you are travelling to the Netherlands to receive care, it is very important to register with a general practitioner. In case of any medical issues, your GP would be your first point of call. If necessary, a GP can refer you to a medical specialist. If you go straight to the hospital, without a GP referral and without an appointment, you may end up paying an unnecessarily high bill and you may face long waiting times. Registration with a GP guarantees you access to the medical care you need. It can be difficult to find a GP, therefore we strongly recommend you to register with a GP before you become unwell.

How?

On the map you can locate a GP in your neighborhood. Click on the red icon on the map in order to find the contact details. You can call the GP practice to register or to obtain more information Before making contact please also read the information on each GP practice to check whether you fulfil the requirements for registration. You need to have an address and proof of identity in order to register at a GP. Registration at the municipality is not a requirement.

Costs

If you have Dutch health insurance, the registration fee is covered and you can visit your GP at no cost. The deductible applies to blood tests and medication prescribed by a GP. If you do not have Dutch health insurance, registration at a GP is free of charge, but you do have to pay per consultation. A consultation shorter than 20 minutes costs around €30.
